Forest Bathing Coach

Forest Bathing Coaching

image00135.jpeg

Forest bathing, or shinrin yoku, is a practice that originated in Japan in the 1980s and has since gained international recognition for its numerous mental and physical health benefits. The term literally translates to 'taking in the forest atmosphere' and encompasses immersing oneself in nature to enhance well-being.

Sue facilitates a light-touch instructional approach to forest bathing coaching. She guides and invites individuals to engage their senses fully, basking in the sights, sounds, smells, and textures of the forest environment.

Research has shown that spending time in nature can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and improve mood and focus. The practice encourages mindfulness and presence, allowing participants to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the natural world. Whether wandering beneath the canopy of trees, listening to the gentle rustle of leaves, or observing
wildlife, shinrin yoku fosters a profound connection with nature that can rejuvenate the spirit and enhance overall health. In an increasingly fast-paced and urbanised world, forest bathing offers a simple yet powerful way to seek solace and nurture our well-being amidst the beauty of the natural environment, whatever the time of day or the weather.

Walk-About

Walkabout

Walkabout sessions are an immersive, half-day guided experience in nature, designed to foster personal reflection and self-discovery for individuals or alongside a friend or partner.

Participants embark on a journey through natural landscapes, creating space to step away from daily distractions and immerse themselves in the present moment. This experience combines silent walking and thought-provoking prompts alongside conversations with the coach.

The walk-about session incorporates a planning stage at the meeting point to broadly design the discovery experience together. There are unique opportunities to reflect on life-style choices, transition through change and approaches to navigating current challenges and future opportunities.

The natural environment serves as both a metaphor and a canvas, encouraging 'looking within', 'looking outside', 'looking between' and alignment with being authentic. Whether focused on decision-making, personal growth or simply reconnecting with nature, the walkabout nurtures clarity, resilience, and renewed purpose in life.

Supervision of Coaching in Nature

image00117.jpeg
image00039.jpeg

Coaching supervision in nature is an innovative approach that combines traditional coaching supervision with the restorative and insightful power of the natural environment.

This practice recognizes that being outdoors can enhance reflection, foster deeper connections, and inspire new perspectives for both coaches and their clients. By stepping outside the confines of conventional settings, supervisors and coaches can tap into the rich tapestry of nature as a source of metaphor, learning, and personal growth.

Working with metaphors drawn from nature, such as the resilience of a tree weathering storms or the adaptability of a river carving its path, coaches can explore complex themes and challenges in their practice.

These natural symbols provide a framework for understanding emotional experiences and professional dilemmas, allowing for profound insights and transformative conversations.

Engaging with the elements of nature—be it the sound of rustling leaves, the feel of the earth beneath one’s feet, or the interplay of light and shadow—can inspire mindfulness and creativity during supervision sessions. This immersive experience not only promotes emotional well-being but also encourages a deeper connection to self, others, and the coaching journey.

As the world continues to evolve, coaching supervision in nature offers a fresh approach to professional development, grounding practitioners in the wisdom of the natural world while fostering a supportive environment for growth and reflection.
